Community Benefit & Health Needs

The health of the community is our priority. Each year, our Community Impact Report highlights our commitment to building a stronger and healthier Central Florida. Through our community outreach efforts, we are able to meet identified health needs, particularly in the vulnerable, uninsured and underserved communities. From screenings, medical research, health fairs, support groups and wellness activities, to educating future physicians, nurses and other health professionals, we are proud to be improving the lives of the individuals and communities we serve.

Community Needs Assessment

At Orlando Health we have a long-established tradition of assessing the health needs of Central Floridians. This is done in order to provide residents with the opportunity to attain optimal health outcomes. In 2013, our hospitals along with fellow healthcare organizations conducted the first ever multi-hospital, public health department joint community health needs assessment. In support of building a healthier community, the assessment helps: increase understanding regarding the health of Central Floridians; build capacity through affiliated development and collaboration; and strengthen the role of the healthcare organizations as they work side-by-side within Central Florida to address community health needs. In 2016, a follow-up assessment was performed, building upon the 2013 findings. In 2019, we continued to build upon the 2016 assessment by including Federally Qualified Health Centers to join the collaboration and incorporated hotspot mapping. As in years past, the 2022 CHNA expanded its work with the collaborative group from the previous CHNA to include a deeper look into health equity, social determinates of health and the impact of COVID-19 on our communities.
