Bio

Akash Nanda, MD, PhD, serves as director of urologic and hematologic radiation oncology at UF Health Cancer Center – Orlando Health, and director of radiation oncology at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital and Health Central Hospital. He is board certified in radiation oncology. Dr. Nanda is trained in proton therapy, a new advanced treatment instituted at Orlando Health in 2016. This therapy is only available in a few cancer centers nationwide.

Dr. Nanda graduated from the MD/PhD program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, also receiving his doctorate in human genetics and molecular biology. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program and was awarded a resident research grant. He also participated in a prostate brachytherapy fellowship at the Seattle Prostate Institute.

Dr. Nanda is also an assistant professor at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and at the University of Florida at Gainesville, teaching radiation oncology. His primary research interests include outcomes analyses and the design of prospective prostate cancer clinical trials.

Dr. Nanda has presented his research at several national meetings and in numerous peer-reviewed journals. He has one patented biomedical invention. Dr. Nanda is a member of the American Society for Radiation and Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Radiological Society of North America, American Association for Cancer Research and American Medical Association.
